Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are sugar componds from plants that are made of Carbon and water. There are three types of carbohydrates: Simple carbohydrates - These carbs contain two or less units of sugar. A carbohydrate with only one sugar unit, monosaccharide, is known as a simple sugar. Some sugars in this catagory include latcose, glucose, and fructose. Disaccharide is the name of a carbohydrate with two sugar units. Sucrose is the most common disacchardie. Complex carbohydrates - Carbohydrates that contain three or more sugar units. Fiber - is a complex carbohydrate. What sets it apart from other complex carbohydrates is the fact that its bonds can not be broken down by the human digestive system. It also not considered a source of energy. About 30% of your calorie intake should be from Carbohydrates. Pasta is a great source of carbohydrates. |
