Fiber
Fiber is a great source of prevention of many ills. Fiber lowers cholesterol, releives constipation, and reduces blood glucose response. There are two forms of dietary fiber. Soluabe Fiber, which is mostly found in oats, fruits, vegetables, and brown rice, helps lower the blood cholesterol level. Insoluabe fiber, found in whole grains, helps prevent colon cancer. Fiber works because it is the part of the plant that we can not digest. So it can easily pass through our system without being broken down. Fiber does have its down sides. Too much fiber will absorb a lot of liquids and could cause a blockage. Also fiber is linked to causing gas, so it is recommended that you start off by gradually increasing your fiber intake. When eating fruits, eat the skin. The skin contains most of the fiber.
